Donald R. Spicer

Donald Ray Spicer, 75, of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday, July 05, 2015 peacefully in his home surrounded by his family.

 

Don was born August 1, 1939 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late James G. and Annie Vera Garrison Spicer.

 

He was a member of the Toronto Church of the Nazarene. Don was self-employed since 1962 as owner and operator of Don’s Appliance Sales and Service in Toronto. He was retired from Ohio Edison - Sammis Plant in Stratton, OH, where he worked in the maintenance dept. and prior to that he worked at Toronto Paper Board.

 

Don also was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

 

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua; two brothers, James and Sanford Spicer.

 

He leaves behind his wife, Emma Louise (Paxton) Spicer whom he married Sept. 27, 1959; his three sons, Ron (Joyce) Spicer of Ravenna, OH, Tim (Tammy) Spicer of Toronto and Ken (Kristin) Spicer of Stow, OH; his sister, Joyce Dye of Toronto and his six grandchildren, Kayleigh, Kelsey, Kara, Alyssa, Jaden and Tyler.

 

Visitation for Don will be held on Tuesday, July 7 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Eric Frey officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Union Cemetery in Toronto. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery by the US Army and the Toronto American Legion Post #86.
