Dr. Richard D 'Dick' Rasor

April 13, 1928 ~ July 9, 2015 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Dr. Richard D. Rasor ‘Dick’, 87, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015 in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

 

Dick was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto, having served as Deacon and Elder. He was a veteran, having served in the US Navy during the Korean War, up until his honorable discharge in July, 1955. Dick was a Mason, Lodge 45, a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, Eastern Ohio Dental Assoc., delegate, the Ohio Dental Association and ADA and a member of the Steubenville Country Club and Foxfire Country Club in Naples, FL.

 

Dick was born April 13, 1928 in Mingo Jct., OH. He graduate from Mingo Junction High School and went on to Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, OH for his undergraduate degree and then on to The Ohio State University, Columbus, OH to earn his DDS degree. Upon graduation and military service, he began his 36 year career as a dentist in Steubenville, OH up until his retirement in 1991.

 

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret ‘Peg’ Rasor, and Chester ‘Doc’ Rasor, his sisters, Janet Howell and Peggy Andrews, and grandson, David Rasor.

 

He is survived by his loving family, wife of 42 years, Patricia ‘Tish’ Herdman Rasor, sons, Fred Meyer, Powell, OH, Chris (Eliza) Meyer, Tampa, FL, Rick (Sue Ann) Rasor, San Antonio, TX, and daughter, Wendy (Larry) Estep, Hilliard, OH, grandchildren, Christa, Melanie, Amanda, Paul, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Lydia, Hope, Tyler, Lauren, Allison, Matthew, Max, Mitchell, Michael, and great-grandson, Dax.

 

Visitation and funeral services for Dick will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at the First Presbyterian Church in Toronto. Visitation will be held from 11:30 am til time of funeral service at 1 pm. Rev. Mike Bongart will officiate his service and burial will be held at the convenience of his family.

 

Dick and his family are very appreciative for the remarkable care provided to him by the many doctors, nurses, and caregivers at The OSU Wexner Medical and James Cancer Centers, Trinity Medical Center West, and Heritage Home Healthcare.

 

Memorial contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 116 N. Third St. Toronto, OH 43964.
