Edward Owen Haynes, Jr., 88, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016 in the Trinity Medical Center West ER in Steubenville.

 

Ed was born Feb. 19, 1927 in Toronto, son of the late Edward, Sr. and Kathleen L. Gibson Haynes.

 

Ed was a retired Superintendent with E.M. Scott Construction Co. in Tampa, FL. He was a carpenter by trade.

 

He was a member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church in Steubenville, Toronto American Legion Post #86 and was a former Scout Leader in FL.  He had a love of all birds and enjoyed feeding them daily at his home.

 

Ed was a Veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Ruby Jones Haynes and his sister, Mary ‘Kay’ Geddis.

 

He leaves behind his wife, Jacqueline Rose (Kemp) Clark Haynes, whom he married March 19, 2005; his son, Lawrence Haynes of Nobleton, FL, son, Bruce Haynes of Lexington, NC, daughter, Rebecca (David) Merlin of Green Mountain, NC, daughter, Belinda Haynes of Alpharetta, GA; step-son, Marshall (Linda) Clark of Scio, OH, step-son, Mark (KeumYon) Clark and step-daughter, Shauna McCoy all of Steubenville; sister, Sally Bauman of Toronto and brother, Roger Haynes of CA; his grandchildren, Hilary Wynn, Jacob and Joshua Haynes, Katey Merlin, Meylisa Sumner, Joshua, Jeremy and Sean Clark, Ryan and Cary Clancey, Kelly and Joelle McCoy; eleven great-grandchildren and his dog ‘Twinkle Toes.’

 

A memorial service for Ed will be held Monday, Feb. 1 at 3 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto, OH. Rev. Jason Elliott will officiate and Military Honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion. There will be memorial visitation prior to the service from 1 pm til of service at 3 pm. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family.
