Gino P. Biasi

April 22, 1931 ~ June 19, 2016 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Gino P. Biasi, 85, a successful Toronto, OH businessman, with Valley Converting Co., a manufacturer and converter of recycled paperboard, and with Biasi Realty LLC, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

 

Gino was born in Little Falls, NY, on April 22, 1931 of Italian immigrants, Simone and Giovannina (del Grante) Biasi.

 

He played football, both ways, as running guard and nose tackle, on the only undefeated team of his high school’s history in his senior year (’48 – ’49).

 

Gino served as a corporal and was honorably discharged a Korean Veteran serving with the Army quartermaster corp as an instructor.

 

Using the G.I. bill, he earned a Bachelor of Science (Pulp and Paper Engineering) at the SUNY College of Syracuse University in ’56, and he was an MBA graduate at Xavier University in ’61.

 

Gino was honored as a Co-Business Man of the Year by the Toronto Chamber in ’89 and he was honored as Industrialist of the Year by the Jefferson County Chamber and the Ohio House of Representatives in ’90.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Anne Marie, granddaughter Tamara Sue Swiger, and sister Teresa McNamara of Derry, NH.

 

Gino is survived by his former wife, Rita (Wagner) Biasi; two daughters, Corrine (Alan) Laws of Salem, OH and Jennifer (Mark) Seemiller of Steubenville; four sons, Daniel (Maria) of Irving, TX, Andrew, Joseph (Julie), Michael (Lisa) all of Steubenville;  thirteen grandchildren, Angela (Eric) Pipo, Andrea (Nick) Wallace, Matthew Seemiller and Christine Cadman, Dominic, Salina, Giovanina, Carmela, Isabella, Carlo, Alexandrina, Malena, Kayla and Anthony Biasi; four great grandchildren,  Elizabeth Swiger, Thomas Wilson, Nico and Cameron Wallace; two sisters, Mrs. Laurie (William) Donovan of St. Louis, MO and Mrs. Marie (Walter) Bohm of Murrells Inlet, SC;  his best friend, Elba N. Hada and his loving extended family, Gloria & Gary Gault.

 

Visitation for Gino will be held on Thursday, June 23 from 4-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Gino’s Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Friday, June 24 at 11 am at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church 1225 N. River Ave in Toronto. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will officiate the Mass and entombment will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.

 

Additional visitation will take place in the rear of the church on Friday morning from 10 am til time of the mass at 11 am. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion Post #86 at the cemetery.
