Harris 'Marty' Martin

Harris ‘Marty’ Martin, 68, of Toronto, OH, passed away suddenly Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 in the Trinity Medical West ER.

Marty was born July 30, 1946 in Mingo Jct., OH, son of the late Mahlon and Verna Barnhart Martin.

He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad, where he was an equipment operator. Marty also served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star.

In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by two brothers, Mahlon and Jack Martin and by a sister, Nellie Barnhart.

Marty leaves behind his wife, Myrtle Hannen Martin; his children, Jon ‘Smarty’ Martin of TN, Todd A. (Carla) Martin of Brilliant, OH, Amy (John) Renforth and Shawna (Robert) Risdon all of Mingo Jct., OH, and Jason Martin of Brilliant, Elizabeth (Ross) Hayhurst and Robert (Julie) Hannen both of Toronto, Melissa (Rob) Patton of Wintersville, OH, and Carolyn Jo Hannen of Toronto. He also leaves his sister Dorothy Mullins of Mingo, Jct. and 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Marty will be held on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. in Toronto, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 11 am. Terrance Smith will officiate his service and burial will held at the convenience of his family.
