Louise K. (Gerard) Burdick

Louise K. Burdick, 87, of Smithfield, OH, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

Louise was born August 18, 1928 in Mt. Pleasant, OH, daughter of the late Paul and Stella (Mozie) Gerard.

She was a Tupperware Manager for many years and also a member of Meadowbrook Church of God in Rayland, OH.

Louise had a huge heart. She had a keen awareness of people and their needs, hers was a life of service. There were times when she took in foster children as well as raising her own niece, Gwenn (Lathem) Reynard. There were many mission trips to the Kentucky Mountains to deliver clothing to the less fortunate.

As a widow living alone, Louise drove the elderly to the doctor and cared for several people providing home health care and comfort. She also loved to gather children for Vacation Bible School. Her "light" shined brightly and she will be greatly missed. She leaves a legacy of faith and example of true servanthood.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Burdick who passed in 1983; her son, Roger Burdick who passed in 2014 and her brother, Paul Gerard, Jr.

Louise leaves behind her two sons, Terry (Sharon) Burdick of Smithfield and David Burdick of Steubenville; her daughter-in-law, Susan Pinkerton Burdick of Toronto; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Louise will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 4-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Marvin Schooler officiating. Burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Cemetery in Wintersville, OH.
