Nancy B. (Vaughn) Silverthorn

Nancy B. ‘E’ Silverthorn, 75, of Toronto, OH, passed away Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Nancy was born June 22, 1942 in E. Liverpool, OH, daughter of the late William and Ella Mae (Hendershott) Vaughn.

She was a retired Librarian with Toronto City Schools and a member of the Richmond United Presbyterian Church.

‘E’ was the matriarch and backbone of our family where everyone was welcome and you never left her house empty-handed. She touched so many lives and everywhere you go someone has a kind story to share about our ‘E.’

She welcomed everyone and always insisted on calling everyone she met by their first name. Her true passion was reading and her story telling as a librarian was legendary. In true ‘E’ fashion she always put others first and pleasing others made her the happiest. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Nancy leaves behind her beloved husband, Richard C. ‘Dick’ Silverthorn, Sr. whom she married May 6, 1961; her two daughters, Melissa (Mark) Phillips and Nancy Beth ‘Buffy’ Swickard and her son, Richard C. ‘Dick’ (Annie) Silverthorn, Jr. all of Toronto; her two sisters, Sandy (Ed) Croxall and Penni (Jerry) Rambo both of E. Liverpool, OH; her seven grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica), Justin and Leslie Phillips, Madeline and Chloe Swickard, Max and Andy Silverthorn; her great-grandson, Austin Phillips; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Tom Rodfong of E. Liverpool; several other nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Barney.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, Nov. 27 from 4 – 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Nancy’s funeral service will held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the funeral home with Rev. John Harris officiating. There will be additional visitation Tuesday from 10 am til time of service at noon. Her burial will be held in Richmond Presbyterian Cemetery at the convenience of her family.
