Paul Blischak

June 9, 1922 ~ October 29, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Paul Blischak of Gahanna, OH, died at the age of 94 at the Otterbein of Gahanna Center on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016. He was a former resident of The Worthington Independent Living Facility in Gahanna.

 

Paul was born in Empire, OH on June 9, 1922 to the late Andrew and Julianna Guzik-Bulischak. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Blischak-Risnear, his brothers, John and Michael Blischak, infant brothers, Andy and Adam, brother-in-law Pete Risnear, niece Marlene Risnear-DeSantis and her husband Tony DeSantis.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia A. ‘Pat’ LaCorte-Blischak; sisters-in-law, Doris and Irene Blischak; nephews, John Blischak, Matthew (Samantha) Blischak, Alan Blischak, Tom (Susan) Bliss, David (Maggie) Blischak and David (Cathy) Risnear; nieces, Betty (Charles) McConnell, Joyce (Homer) Bowers, Helen (Joe) Jaeger, Doreen Blischak, Diane Blischak, Donna (Charles) Robbins and Andrea (Duane) Seditz; many great nieces, great-great nieces, great nephews and great-great nephews survive; cousins, Elizabeth Guzik-Schultz and Mary Guzik-Scsurok-Truesdale.

 

Paul retired from Jones & Laughlin Steel Mills (aka LTV) of Cleveland, OH in 1984. He loved to serve his Orthodox Christian Churches, polka dance, play golf and travel. He and Pat traveled to many parts of the world. Paul served in the 85th Infantry (Custer) Division during WWII. He was honored to participate in the Honor Flight Columbus in May, 2014. He was recognized by His Eminence the late Archbishop Job of Chicago, with a Gramota Award for his many years of service as Treasurer for St. Gregory of Nyssa Orthodox Church in Columbus. He was a current member of Holy Cross Orthodox Church of Columbus and American Legion Post 11 in Lancaster, OH.

 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1 from 4-7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto, OH. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Mark Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by the Toronto American Legion Post 86.
