Ray ‘Red’ Allen, 87, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, September 08, 2015 in the Gables Care Center in Hopedale, OH.
Red was born July 28, 1928 in Knoxville, OH, son of the late Marvin and Sallie Lewis Allen.
He worked for many years at the Toronto Paper Mill and delivered for Meals on Wheels. Red owned and operated Red’s Christmas Trees and painted many houses in the Toronto area.
Red was a member of the Toronto Masonic Lodge #583 F&AM, where he was Past Master. He was an avid bowler, bingo player and he loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jeanne Allen; brothers, Marvin and Earl Allen and his sister, Marie McGrath.
Ray leaves behind his children, Danny (Kristy) Allen of Texas, Gary Allen of Wintersville, OH, Sherry (Doug) Pinkerton, Bonnie Valentine and David (Keri) Allen all of Toronto; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; his sister, Juanita Wallace of Wintersville, OH; his step-children, Susan (Bill) Franke, Pamela (William) Williams, Don Price all of Toronto, Karen (Ron) Rock of Wooster, OH, Jeff Price of Toronto and Janet (Darren) Young of Columbus, OH; seventeen step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation and funeral services for Red will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10 with visitation from 4 – 7:45 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Masonic services will be held at 7:45 pm followed by Red’s funeral service at 8 pm with Pastor John Keenan officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of Red’s family.
