Roy M. ‘Butch’ Higgins, 75, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
He was born Dec. 13, 1939 in St. Marys, WV, son of the late Roy E. and Bernice Campbell Higgins.
Butch graduated from Jefferson Union High School in 1957. He retired from Titanium Metals Corp. in Toronto and he owned and operated Higgins Trucking.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Wintersville, OH, where he was Bishop for many years. Butch was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny and sister, Glenna Weekly.
Butch leaves behind his wife, Mary V. (Gilbert) Higgins whom he married July 5, 1963; his son, Paul (Lori) Higgins and his daughter, Ginger (Scott) Bloomer all of Toronto; his three grandchildren whom he loved and adored, India, Arabella and Lazarus Bloomer; his sister, Donna Schaffer of Coshocton, OH; his beloved puppy friends, Mocha, Frappe, Romeo and Baron.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints, Powells Lane in Wintersville, with visitation on Friday, Sept. 18 from 5-8 pm and his funeral service on Saturday at 1:30 pm. Bishop Clyde Larson will officiate his service and burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
