Ruth E. 'Betty' (Shields) Kumbera

Ruth E. ‘Betty’ (Shields) Kumbera, 96, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Sunday Dec. 28, 2014 in Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV.

Betty was born May 3, 1918 in Osage, OH, daughter of the late John D. and Myrtle E. Wiles Hanlin.

Betty was licensed beautician and a homemaker. She was a member of the Wintersville United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Eugene ‘Pat’ Shields and by her second husband, William C. Kumbera, Sr., her two sisters, Mary Hanlin, Margaret ‘Peg’ Jansen, her two brothers, Charles and William Hanlin, her daughter-in-law, Barb (Blaner) Shields and by her step-son William C. Kumbera, Jr.

Surviving is her son, John Shields of Westerville, OH; her step-daughter, Sandra (Frank) Villamagna of Mingo Jct., OH; four grandchildren, Beth (Dan) Scott, Bryan Shields, Frank (Ronda) Villamagna, Stacey (Chris) Hooper; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Betty will be held on Tuesday Dec. 30, 2014 from 12 noon til time of Betty’s Funeral Service at 2:00 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 701 Findley St. in Toronto, OH. Rev. Clint Quillen will officiate her service and burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.
