Ruth Marie (Allen) McGrath

Ruth Marie McGrath, 98, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday June 10, 2015 in the Country Club Manor in Steubenville, OH.

Marie was born Sept. 24, 1916 in Pomeroy, OH, daughter of the late Marvin and Sally (Lewis) Allen.

Marie worked for 10 years doing cleaning at Toronto High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Toronto Nazarene Church and was Past President of the Toronto Women’s Club.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. McGrath in 1996; an infant grandson, Douglas D. McGrath; a granddaughter, Brenda Kenny; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn McGrath and son-in-law Ronald Anderson.

Surviving is her daughter, Rita (Frank) Turner of NC; two sons, Larry (Debra) McGrath of N. Ridgeville, OH and Richard ‘Bird’ McGrath of Toronto; her brother, Ray Allen of Toronto; her sister, Juanita Wallace of Wintersville, OH; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday June 15, 2015 from 5-8 pm, at the J.E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc. 701 Findley St. in Toronto. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at the funeral home with John Keenan and Pastor Susan Clegg officiating. Burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery in Toronto.
