Verta W. (Peterson) Cooper

Verta W. Cooper, 84, of Bloomingdale, OH, passed away Wednesday Jan. 18, 2017 in Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.

Verta was born May 12, 1932 in McIntyre, OH daughter of the late Bruce and Hattie Smith Peterson.

She was a homemaker and a member of Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre and the Missionary Society of the church.

In addition to her parents, Verta was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce Cooper, Sr. and Robert Peterson, her brother Stanley Peterson and two granddaughters, Patricia and Rebecca.

Surviving is her daughter, Carrie A. (Jack) Anderson of Steubenville; her son John Cooper, Jr. of McIntyre; a special nephew Jerome Peterson; five grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons; three sisters, Twyla Porter of Cleveland, OH, Linda Hines of Steubenville and Martha (Charles) Miller of Lordstown, OH; three brothers, James (Valjean) Peterson of Hopedale, OH, Ernest (Virginia) Peterson of Wintersville, OH, Tyrone Brown of Youngstown, OH and a host of nieces and nephews.

Verta’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday Jan. 21, 2017 at 12 noon at the Shaffer Chapel A.M.E. Church in McIntyre. There will be visitation from 10 am until time of services at noon. Rev. Mary Ann Smith will officiate and burial will follow in McIntyre Cemetery.
