Neil C. Stewart, 84, of Colliers, WV, passed peacefully Wednesday, April 17, 2024, surrounded by immediate family under the care of Valley Hospice.
Neil was born February 6, 1940, in Weirton, WV, son of the late Kenneth and Zanie Stewart. He was also preceded in death by twin daughters, Karen and Kaye, daughter, Cherri, and son, Neil “Bud” Stewart.
He was retired from the Weirton Steel Corp. where he worked for 41 years, primarily as a Forklift Operator. Neil was also a member of the USW Local 291 in Weirton where he was also a Union Steward.
After retirement, Neil enjoyed building birdhouses, watching re-runs of western movies and Seinfeld, sitting on the porch with the neighborhood stray cats who he quickly named and cared for even though he always said he didn’t want another cat, hanging out in his son and daughter-in-law’s garage while enjoying Pittsburgh Penguins hockey, the dogs, and good conversation, traveling to Georgia to visit with his daughter and son-in-law, and spending quality time with his best friend, Linda.
Neil leaves behind his ex-spouse, Linda (Fullerton) Stewart; daughter, Lisa and husband Josh Liedke; sons, Chris and wife Tiff, Tom and wife Theresa, and Mark; brother-in-law, Dale Fullerton; son-in-law, Taz Antoniou; 14 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
A graveside committal service for Neil will be held Saturday at 11 am in the St. John Cemetery in Follansbee, WV.
