Charles E. ‘Chuck’ ‘Fuzzy’ Rawson, 85, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Tuesday Jan. 8, 2019 at his home.
Chuck was born Feb. 24, 1933 in Toronto, OH, son of the late Howard and Catherine (Westbrook) Rawson.
He was a retired truck mechanic with the Weirton Steel Corp. Chuck also retired from the Ft. Steuben Scout Reservation in Freeport, OH, where he served as Ranger for 20yrs.
Chuck was a 1952 graduate of Toronto High School, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Toronto and a founding member of the Oakland District Vol. Fire Dept. in Weirton, WV.
Chuck was involved in Scouting for more than 60 yrs. and he showed many of young men manhood.
Chuck also served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn (Powell) Rawson in 1994, his second wife, Estella Loraine Rawson, his sister, Marie Candoo and his two brothers, William ‘Bill’ and Fred Rawson.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Ann (Russell) Rawson, whom he married on Jan. 9, 2007; his daughter, Tamala ‘Tam’ (James) Chipps of Steubenville; his sons, Timothy (Susan) Rawson of Wintersville, OH and John Rawson of Weirton; his step-children, step-son William Edward (Denyce) Ferguson of Powell, WY, step-daughter Pamela (Perry) Valantine of Costa Mesa, CA, step-son Mark F. Ferguson and step-daughter Valerie L. (Christopher) Pelletier both of Mountain Hope, Idaho; his four granddaughters, Mandy (David), Jaime, Jennifer and Sierra; three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Cooper and Sylis and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday Jan. 11, 2019 from 3 - 7 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto, where his Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11 am. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate and burial will be held at the convenience of his family. Military Honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion Post #86.
