Edwina ‘Eddy Gayle’ Maffett, 74, of Toronto, OH, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 in Brightwood Nursing Home in Follansbee, WV.

 

Eddy Gayle was born Feb. 23, 1943 in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Edwin and Elizabeth (Haney) Ward.

 

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Toronto and the Toronto Order of the Eastern Stars 215 where she was Past Worthy Matron. Eddy Gayle worked at various stores around town over the years and was also a former dispatcher for TEMS.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Jeff Maffett and her brothers, Charlie and Mark Ward.

 

Eddy Gayle leaves behind her husband, Clifford F. ‘Buzz’ Maffett whom she married Dec. 29, 1961; her two sons, Guy S. (Corie) Maffett of Kernersville, NC and Shannon L. (Faith) Maffett of Cherokee, KS; her brother, Todd (Vickie) Ward of Toronto; her two grandchildren, Carter and Kelsey Maffett and her great-grandson, Blayke Maffett.  

 

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Dec. 16. at 11 am at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Rev. Kevin Rinkes will officiate and a luncheon will follow at the First United Methodist Church in Toronto. There will be an Eastern Star Service held at 10:45 am prior to Eddy Gayle's Memorial Service.
