Elizabeth B. (Petras) Fedash, 84, formerly of Martins Ferry, OH, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the Stone Crossing Care Center in Canton, OH.

 

Liz was born Sept. 27, 1932 in Toronto, OH, daughter of the late John E. Petras, Sr. and Mary Ann (Garish) Petras.

 

She was retired from Wheeling Hospital where she served as Head Nurse for 43 years. Liz was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central High School, Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1953 earning her RN and West Liberty University where she earned her BSN in 1986.

 

Liz was an active member of her community and served on the Civil Service Commission in Martins Ferry. She was Catholic by faith.

 

In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Evan R. ‘Junk’ Fedash, her sister Marianne (Joe) Birmingham, her brothers John E. Petras, Jr., Robert J. (El) Petras and her sister in law, Mary (Evan Kenneth) Joseph. 

 

She leaves behind her special niece and nephew with whom she resided in Toronto, Bob (Debbie) Petras; her three nieces, Mary Katherine Petras, Judy (Tom) Koehnlein and Elaine (Paul) Morris all of Toronto; her nephews, Brian (Robin) Petras, Kevin (Terri) Petras, Jim (Chris) Petras and Don Petras all of MI; nephew Mark (Holly) Joseph of VA, niece Margo (Ron) Krager of MT; her sister-in-law, Claudia Petras of Royal Oak, MI; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

 

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, May 22 at 10 am at St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will officiate the mass and inurnment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Steubenville, OH. Family and friends are invited to gather in the rear of the church from 9:15 am til time of Mass at 10 am.

 

Memorial donations may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
