Estelle R. (Sagun) Pillar

Estelle Rita ‘Tootie’ Pillar passed away peacefully August 28, 2017 in Aultman Hospital Canton Ohio, she was 92 years old.  She was born Estelle Rita Sagun, September 3, 1924 in Steubenville, Ohio daughter of the late Adam and Josephine Sagun.

Estelle retired from the University of Steubenville where she worked in the registrar's office.  She also worked for St. John's Medical Center as an admissions clerk and was a secretary for the Stengel Insurance Agency of Steubenville. 

During World War II she worked as an administrative assistant in the Communications Department of the U.S. Navy.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Adam, Joseph, John, Steve, Stanley, Walter and her two sisters Mary and Helen. 

Surviving is her husband of 68 years Michael A. Pillar, a sister Josephine Dylewski of Wintersville, Ohio, a brother Frank (Peggy) Sagun of Steubenville, Ohio four sons Mark Pillar of Honolulu, Hawaii, Miles (Kathy) Pillar of Dover, Ohio, Matthew (Julie) Pillar of Dover, Ohio, Mitchell (Lori) Pillar of Rowlett, Texas and two daughters Michele (Bill) Killian of Stanwood, Michigan and Marian (Harvey) Yergin of Louisville, Ohio with whom she resided and her ‘kids’ from the University of Steubenville John & Mary Steitz and Diane & Max Owens.

She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Morgan, Erin, Bill, Dan, Joe, Michael, Bebe, Nathan and Alex and two great grandchildren Deakin and Delaney.

A Private Ceremony to honor Estelle's life is being planned. Arrangements for Estelle are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH.
