James Dunlope Obituary

James B. Dunlope, 80, of Toronto, OH, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 28, 2019 at his home, after a 4-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Jim was born Oct. 7, 1938 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Kenneth and Violet (Holland) Dunlope.

 

He was retired from the Timet Corp. in Toronto, with 43 years, where he managed many departments. Jim was also owner of the former Dunlope’s Florist and Greenhouse for 12 yrs.

 

He was a very private quiet man who loved his family and his home more than anything.

 

Jim was very patriotic and proud to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 - 1962.

 

Surviving is his wife of 59 years, Geri (Hoenig) Dunlope, whom he married Feb. 6, 1960; his two sons, Jeff (Erin) Dunlope of Toronto and their daughters, Emily of Weirton, WV, and Maria of Toronto and Greg (Jana) Dunlope and their son, James of Toronto; his daughter, Kelly Schneider of E. Liverpool, OH and her children, daughter Lyndsie (Jesse) Hribar and son Evan (Emma) Schneider both of Columbiana, OH. Jim also leaves behind his brother, Kenneth (Judy) Dunlope of Dayton, OH, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Cassidy.

 

Family and friends will be received Wednesday May 1, 2019 from 5 - 8 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday with burial to follow in Toronto Union Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Toronto American Legion Post #86.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Rahman and his staff at the Teramana Cancer Center and to Rev. Carol Ross Irwin.
