Jerome J. ‘Jerry’ Solomon, 80, of Toronto, OH, passed away Jan 22, 2018 in the Davis Health Care Center in Wilmington, NC.
Jerry was born Oct. 7, 1937 in Toronto, OH, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Jurasko) Solomon.
He was retired from the Weirton-Steel Corp. with 40 years of service as an Electrical Engineer in the Tin Mill. Jerry graduated from Catholic Central High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and also Our Lady Star of the Sea in N. Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a Charter Member of Dyer Country Club in Toronto and the Knights of Columbus Council #2187 Fourth Degree Assembly. Jerry was also a Veteran of the US Army Reserves.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Sulek) Solomon who passed Feb. 28, 2014 and his sister, Patricia Rogers.
Jerry leaves behind his son, Joseph J. Solomon of Toronto; his two daughters, Jacqueline Solomon of Wilmington, NC and Jeanine (Christian) Corso of Broadview Heights, OH and many beloved extended family members and dear friends.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 1-5 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. There will be additional visitation on Monday from 9 – 9:30 am at the funeral home followed by his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
