John T. ‘Jack’ Doran, Sr., 93 of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 in the Laurels of Steubenville, OH.
Jack was born March 27, 1925 in Toronto, son of the late Hugh J. and Mary (Murray) Doran.
He was a retired Millwright with the Weirton Steel Corp. in Weirton, WV. Jack’s memberships included the St. Francis Catholic Church in Toronto, the Toronto American Legion Post #86, the V.F.W. and the Toronto Lions Club where he was a Past President.
Jack was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served his country in WWII.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda M. (Stewart) Doran who passed in 2004; infant son Michael Patrick Doran, son John T. ‘Tom’ Doran, Jr. who passed in 1999 and two brothers, Hugh and Thomas Doran.
Jack leaves behind his daughter, Geraldine ‘Geri’ (Jack) Kins of Wellsburg, WV; sister, Mary Kay Doran of Steubenville; brother, James M. Doran of Hartford, CT; four grandchildren, Danielle (Dan) Anderson of NC, Aundrea (Anthony) Marra of NC, Heather (Ron) Tatgenhorst of Byesville, OH and Chad (Kara) Doran of FL; daughter-in-law, Sue (Dana) Campbell of Bloomingdale, OH; 7 great grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. There will be visitation Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 10 – 10:30 am followed by his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 am at St. Francis Church. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will celebrate and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday at 3:45 pm at the funeral home and Military Graveside Honors will be presented Wednesday by the Toronto American Legion Honor Guard.
