Lawrence Agin Obituary

Lawrence A. Agin, 80, of Toronto, OH, passed away Sunday July 28, 2019 at his home, after a long battle with Parkinson Disease.

 

Larry was born Sept. 27, 1938 in Zanesville, OH, son of the late Walter and Ruth (Wycoff) Agin.

 

He was retired insulator with Local # 2 in Pittsburgh, PA. Larry was a member of the Wintersville Baptist Temple, a born again Christian and he was a former boxer.

 

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son, Lance Rockwell Agin in 2014, his daughter Theresa Agin in 2018, his brother, Doug Agin and his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Mike Delany.

 

Larry is survived by his wife Roseana K. (Grim) Agin, whom he married on June 29, 1972; his children, Christopher Reid Agin of Hawaii, Deitra Agin of Follansbee, WV. and Lawrence A. (Brenda) Agin, II; his sister, Joy (Don) Campbell of Zanesville, OH; his three brothers, Rex (Sue) Agin of Belvedere, OH, Randy (Jenny) Agin of Hanover, OH and Mark Agin of Zanesville, OH; his half-brother, Gene (Kathy) Huffman of Gallipolis, OH; his half-sister, Susan (Dave) Felt of Madera, CA. 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Larry loved boxing. He was a boxer, trainer, manager and promoter. His record was 92 wins, 7 loses and 78 KO’s. Larry and his brothers were inducted into the Upper Ohio Valley Hall of Fame on Nov. 22, 2000. He loved to fish, garden, watch the Pirates play baseball and he loved to play with his grandchildren.

 

Visitation for Larry will be held Wednesday, July 31 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. His funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Troy Thacker of the Wintersville Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.

 

Larry’s family wishes to give a big thank you to Valley Hospice and their staff for all their great loving care given to him.
