Martin V. ‘Marty’ Motto, Jr., 62 of Toronto, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2018 in the Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH.
Marty was born Sept. 28, 1955 in Steubenville, son of the late Martin V., Sr. and Louise V. (Swartz) Motto.
He attended St. Joseph Grade School in Toronto and was a 1974 graduate of Toronto High School. Marty was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. He was the groundskeeper/custodian for more than 30 years at both St. Joseph and St. Francis Church in Toronto.
Marty enjoyed assisting the ladies of the Catholic Women’s Club during the festival and social functions. He had a very simple and routine lifestyle and he looked forward to spending time with family during the holidays and birthdays.
Marty was always willing to help anyone when called upon. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Pirate fan and a former member of the Jaycees.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin in 1989, his nephew Jason in 2002 and his mother Louise in 2016.
Marty leaves behind his brother, Joe (Gina) Motto of Toronto; his nephew, Justin (Samantha) Motto of Steubenville and his great nieces, Sophie Bella and Cora Grace Motto and his great nephew, Logan Francis Motto all of Steubenville.
Family and friends will be received Friday, Sept. 21 in the rear of St. Joseph Church from 10 am til the time of his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 am. Fr. Thomas Vennitti and Fr. Mario Tizziani will concelebrate his Mass and burial will held at the convenience of his family.
