Mary Josephine (Polito) Hatfield

Mary Josephine (Polito) Hatfield, 73, of Rayland, OH, passed away Sat. Oct. 28, 2017 in Wheeling Hospital.

Mary Jo was born June 29, 1944 in Martins Ferry, OH, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Keri) Polito.

She was an RN nurse, retiring in 2007 after 42 years working full time in many fields.

She was a member of the Smithfield Christian Church and a 1962 graduate of Smithfield High School and a 1965 Diploma graduate of OVGH School of Nursing (now OVMC) in Wheeling.

In addition to her parents, Mary Jo was preceded in death by her brother, Richmond Polito.

Surviving is her husband, Larry Hatfield whom she married on Sept. 3, 1966. Mary and Larry never had any children but she loved and adored her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her two sisters, Kathryn (Harry) Toriscelli of Wintersville, OH and Rebecca Eastham of Fremont, OH; her brother, James (Paula) Polito of Stockport, OH and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Polito of Hickory N.C.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday Oct. 31, 2017 from 11 am til time of her funeral service at 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Rev. Wilford Simeral will officiate and a private burial will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery.
