Obituary

Alfonso J."Fonzie"Petrozzi 76, of Smithfield, Ohio passed away at his home on Saturday Feb. 25, 2006.He was born May 24, 1929 in Mingo Jct., Ohio son of the late Loretto and Mary Morocco Petrozzi. He was a retired Blast Furnace Foreman for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., retiring after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Dillonvale, the Mingo Knights of Columbus Council # 4361, was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he received the Bronze Star Medal.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Adaline Paravano and her husband Henry, Millie Cassidy and her husband Patrick, his brother Tony Petrozzi and his niece Lisa Campbell.Surviving are his wife, Ellen June (Mellinger) Petrozzi, whom he married on December 29, 1951, four sons; Bob and his wife Mary Ellen of Smithfield, Bill and his wife Elaine of Anchorage, Alaska, Brian and his wife Carrie of New Alexandria, Edwardof Pittsburgh. Seven Grandchildren, Josephine, Joseph, Amber, Mark, John, Mike, Abby, and one Great-Grandson Benjamin. Also survived by his brothers and sisters; Armand (Marie) Petrozzi Brilliant, Rocco (Minda) Petrozzi of Mingo Jct., Louis "Gee Gee" (Mary) Petrozzi of Naples, Fla., Pearl Emerson of Westerville, Ohio, Domenic (Mary Ann) Petrozzi of Mingo Jct., Tillio (Louise) Petrozzi and Lucy (James) Riley all of St. Clairsville, Ohio and sister-in-law Annette Petrozzi of Worthington, Ohio. 30 nieces and nephews.Friends and family may call on Tuesday evening from7- 9 pm. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. at the J. E. FOSTER FUNERAL HOMES, INC. 107 Hill St.Smithfield, Ohio.Additional visitation will take place on Thursday morning at St. Adalbert Church in Dillonvale from9:00 am. up til time of the Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10:00 am.Msgr. John Kolsar will be the Celebrant and burial will follow in HollyMemorialGardens. The Belmont council of Veterans of Foreign War will provide full military graveside honors.
