Obituary

Alton D. "Bud" Brand, 80, of Toronto, OH, passed away Friday April 19, 2013 in the Life Line Hospital in Wintersville, OH. Bud was born Nov. 17, 1932 in Tunnelton, WV, son of the late Thurston Brand and Cecelia Kowalsky Brand Popivchak. Bud was retired from Timet-Titanium Metals Corp. in Toronto. He was a member of the Toronto First Church of the Nazarene, the Pilgrim Mason Lodge# 691 F&AM and the Valley of Steubenville Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. Bud served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Navy.In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two brothers Orvis "Buck" Brand and Joseph Popivchak and by a sister Shirley Stull. Surviving are his wife of 57 years Joyce (Coffman) Brand, whom he married on Oct. 8, 1955, two daughters Debra Hall and Patricia (John) Wade both of Toronto; four grandchildren Lauren Hall of Calf., Allison Hall of Toronto, Ryan (Kristy) Garman and Matthew (Amber) Garman all of Toronto. He also leaves behind two sisters, Wonnona "Sis" (Bob) Peckens of Toronto, Irene Popivchak of Wintersville and one brother Thurston (Pearl) Brand of Wintersville and his brother-in-law Gary Coffman of Butler, MO. Bud also leaves several nieces and nephews.Visitation for Bud will be held on Tuesday April 23, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, OH. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Kelley and Rev. Eric Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery. Masonic Services will be held on Tuesday at 5:45 pm.
