Alva Raymond Striffler Sr. 59 of Petersburg, Ohio formerly of Rush Run, Ohio died Wednesday Sept. 8, 2004 at his home. Alva was born May 2, 1945 in Rush Run, son of the late John and Georgia Littleton Striffler. He was employed as a Truck Driver for the Wes Pollock Trucking Co. in Canfield, Ohio. He was a member of Union local #809 in Steubenville, a member of the Leetonia American Legion, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Alva was preceded in death by; an Infant Brother, Edward. Surviving are; his wife Georgianna M. Farnsworth Striffler of home, Two Sons; Alva R.(Pam)Striffler Jr. of Rayland, Aaron L. Striffler of Boardman, Ohio. One Grandson,Eugene C. Striffler of Martins Ferry. Four brothers; John R. of Steubenville, David of Rayland, Robert of Portland, Ore. and Larry of Wintersville. Four Sisters, Sandra Duke of Mingo Jct., Tricia Dawson of Leetonia, Dolores "Dee" Bates and Leah Dawn Striffler both of Wintersville. Friends and family may call on Sunday Sept. 12th. from 2-4 and 7 -9 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 107 Hill St. Smithfield; where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am. Minister Herman McHan will officiate and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens Pleasant Grove, Oh. Full Military graveside services will be conducted by the Smithfield and Brilliant American Legions.
