Alva G. Williams, 83, of Rayland, OH (Plum Run), passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 in Weirton Medical Center in Weirton, WV.Alva was born on Sept. 3, 1925, son of the late Franklin Guy and Stella (Pitts) Williams. Alva was a retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel where he worked most of his life in the BOF; he was a member of the Plum Run CCCU Church and he was Veteran of the US Navy having served his country in WWII.In addition to his parents, Alva was preceded in death by his wife Iza L. (Taggart) Williams who passed away on Dec. 12, 2001; his brother Okey and his sister Lillian.Alva is survived by his daughter, Sandra L. Staymate of Rayland, OH; four sons, Jonathan (Gail) Williams of Panama City, FL, Martin (Vickie) Williams of Hartley, Del., David S. (Cindy) Williams of Rayland, OH, Samuel (Becky) Williams of Chillicothe, OH; two brothers, Tom (Carolyn) Williams of Middlebourne, WV, Chuck (Joan) Williams of Brilliant, OH; two sisters, Sarah Reed and Wanna Lee Hayes both of Shirley, WV. Alva is also survived by five grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Visitation for Alva will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH, where Alva's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 25 at 1:00pm with the Rev. Roger Wayne officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Colerain, OH. Military graveside honors will be provided by members from the Piney Fork American Legion Post 735. www.jefosterfh.com
