Anna K. Clark, 94, of Smithfield, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 in the Carriage Inn in Steubenville. Anna was born on January 12, 1914, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Bak) Karpiel. Anna was the oldest living member of the Smithfield United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women of the Church. Anna was also a member of the Smithfield Senior Women's Club. She was a homemaker who loved her cooking, canning, gardening and her family. In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C., Sr. who passed away in 1989; her infant daughter; her brother Joseph Karpiel and stepfather John Roman. Anna is survived by her son Raymond C. (Betty) Jr. of Toronto; her daughter Joyce (Jim) Degenhardt of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Steven Clark, Dana (Ben) Wainer, Edward (Susan) Sobolewski, Sonya (Roger) Yanssens and Trent (Sue) Sobolewski; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation for Anna will be held on Saturday, November 15 from 4-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH. Anna's funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 16 at 1pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Ed Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in New Alexandria Cemetery.
