Barbara C. Richards, 65, of (Rush Run) Rayland, OH, lost her battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and friends on Sat. Feb. 11, 2017 at Lizas Place in Wheeling, WV.

Barb was born July 21, 1951 in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Robert Ogden and Ellen (Eltringham) Ogden Kovarik.

She was retired from Labor Local # 809 in Steubenville.

Barb was Methodist by faith. She was recording Secretary for Ohio Labors Retirees Dist. Council, Judge of Elections for Board Local #809, Vice Pres. Retirees Council #809.

Barb loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Bertha Richards, her maternal grandmother, Florence Eltringham and paternal grandmother, Della Odgen.

Surviving is her husband, Dean V. Richards, whom she married on July 5, 1969; her father, Lewis Kovarik; her sister, Jeanne (Warren) Carothers of Rayland; her brothers, Robert (Glenda) Ogden of Rayland and Lewis (Carissa) Kovarik of Weirton, WV; her aunt and uncle, Glenna and Bob Kinkus of Rayland; her cousin, Darla (Kevin) Kuri of Tiltonsville, OH; her aunt, Annabell Sudvary of Rayland; special friends, Bill and Carolyn Tootsie Turnbull, Flora Flip Harkins, several nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday Feb. 20, 2017 from 4-8 pm at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield, OH. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at the funeral home with Kenny Kourim officiating. Burial will follow in Northern Cemetery in Smithfield.
