Barbara Lynn Sweeney, 56, of Toronto, OH, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday May 23, 2025.

Barb was born on March 5, 1969, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of the late Barry G. Sweeney and Cynthia J. (O'Brien) Sweeney, who survives.

She was currently working at Franciscan University, in Steubenville, in the food service dept. Barb was also a weekend security guard at the Valley Converting paper mill in Toronto. She had previously worked at the former Stacey's IGA and McDonalds, both in Toronto.

Barb was an avid Ohio State Buckeye, Steelers and Pirates fan. She also loved to vacation with her wonderful crazy friends.

In addition to her father Barry, who passed in October of 2003, Barb was preceded in death by her brother, Barry F. "Barn" Sweeney, who passed in March of 2010, maternal grandparents, Dick and Barb O'Brien and paternal grandparents, Bernard and Carolyn Sweeney.

Surviving in addition to her mother Cynthia of Toronto, is her aunt and uncle, Judy and Mike Yacos of Toronto; uncle, Richard O'Brien, two cousins, Mark and Brian Huber, special friends, Rachal Ighnat, Mary Beth Sherwood, Sarah Diamond, Haley June Scott, and her beloved dogs, Sid and Brutus.

A graveside service for Barb in the Toronto Union Cemetery is being planned and will be announced soon. Barb is in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. www.jefosterfh.com
