Obituary

Barbra Ann (Chupa) Poe, 52, of Boblingen, Germany, formerly of Toronto, OH, went to be with Jesus on October 17, 2024.

Barbra was born on March 31, 1972, in Steubenville, OH, daughter of Lois Ann Baker and the late George C. "Sonny" Chupa.

She was a 1990 graduate of Toronto High School, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the band. Barbra went on to get a degree in Education from the University of NC Pembroke where she graduated with honors. She was certified as a K- through 12 Special Education Teacher and a K- through 8 Classroom Teacher.

After college, Barbra was hired by the Department of Defense on May 9, 2004, and she spent her first two years teaching on the Army Base at Ft. Bragg, NC. She then relocated to Boblingen, Germany where she taught lower elementary grades and Special Education. She taught at Stuttgart Elementary School on Panzer Kaserne in Stuttgart Germany for the past 18 years. She was employed by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA).

Barbra was a member of Toronto First Methodist Church in Toronto, Ohio. She was a member of the Toronto Order of the Eastern Star #215. She was also a member of the Stuttgart Booster Club. She loved to travel in Europe, especially to London, England where she enjoyed High Tea at the Savoy. Barbra was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler and Pittsburgh Pirates fan.

In addition to her father, Barbra was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Loren and Mary Louise Baker, and paternal grandparents, Jack and Garnet Bond.

She leaves behind her mother, Lois Ann Baker of Toronto, Ohio; son, Zachariah Poe of Stuttgart, Germany; brother, Ken (Beth) Chupa of Dunedin, FL; nieces, Morgan (Luke) Roland and their son Ace, and Jordan (Austin) Boone and their son Koe; Significant other, Jason Hurley of Heilbronn, Germany; ex-husband and father of her son, Raymond Poe, also of Stuttgart; several loving aunts, uncles and cousins, including her special uncle, whom she considered a father figure, Ray Horne of Toronto, Ohio. Barbra also is survived by all her friends, former students and fellow teachers.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday, November 13 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Also Order of the Eastern Star #215 service at 6 PM at the Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will follow on Thursday at 11 AM at the Toronto First Methodist Church. Pastor Ron Dixon and Rev. Kevin Rinkes will co-officiate, and burial will follow in the Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.

There will be a Celebration of Life service in the Stuttgart High School Auditorium on Panzer Kaserne in Stuttgart Germany on Sunday November 24 at 2 PM. www.jefosterfh.com
