Father time finally arrived for Bernard Frakowski on May 6, 2010, while he was out mowing his lawn. Although he will be greatly missed we take comfort in knowing that at long last his wish of joining his beloved Frieda has come true. Bernard and Frieda were married on September 24, 1954, they loved and supported each other until Frieda's passing in 2002, an event from which he never fully recovered.Bernard was well educated by life and experience. He loved his trees, feeding the birds and any stray animal that wandered into his yard. Although he could be stubborn and at times cantankerous he lived his life full and on his own terms. He was recycling long before it became popular to do so, he grew wonderful fruits and vegetables and took great pride in sharing his bounty. Hobbies ranged from reading and sitting on the porch, to marathon walks; but he mostly enjoyed his time in the out doors.Bernard was a hard working, dedicated family man. He began working at the Farm Bureau, and during his lifetime worked as truck driver hauling steel, he retired from Weir-Cove in the early nineties.Bernard was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served 2 tours during WWII, first with the Reconnaissance Company 628th Tank Destroyer Battalion, second tour with the 82nd Airborne Division as a Parachuter.Bernard was born on May 20, 1925 in Lafferty, OH, son of the late Stanley and Catherine Frakowski.
