Obituary

Bernard J. "Bernie" Kane, 74 of Toronto, Ohio passed away Wednesday Feb. 14, 2007 at his home of natural causes.He was a retired project engineer from Titanium Metals Corp. with 43 years of service.He was born December 17, 1932 in Midland, PA son of the late John E. and Sylvia Bayer Kane.He was also preceded in death by a sister, Alberta Kane Stephenson; two brothers, John E. Kane, Jr., and Francis B. Kane.He was a graduate of the former LincolnHigh School in Midland and also a former employee of the Crucible Steel Co.He was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Toronto Sunrise Seniors, Toronto American Legion Post 86, American Association of Retired Persons, in past years actively involved with Toronto Little League as president and coach for many years, also held an office in the Toronto Boosters, and a former member of the Dapper Dan.He was veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea from 1953 to 1955 with the 38th Inf. 2nd. Div.Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Margaret Mudron Kane whom he married on November 12, 1955; two sons, Robert B. (Caron) Kane of LeominsterMass., David S. (Ruth) Kane of West Chester, PA and two grandchildren Zachary R. and Ryan B. Kane of LeominsterMass.Two brothers, Donald M. Kane of Beaver Falls, Pa. and Ronald A. Kane of South Lyon, Michigan and a sister Marlene S. Vuketich also of Beaver Falls, Pa.Bernie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.Calling hours for Bernie will be held on Saturday, February 17 from 6-8pm and also on Sunday from 1-4pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto.A vigil service will be held at the funeral home at 1 pm on Sunday afternoon.Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Kurt Kemo officiating on Monday, February 19 at 10am.There will also be an hour of visitation Monday morning at the churchbefore Mass from 9-10am.There will be full military honors after the Mass given by the Toronto American Legion Post 86.Interment will be private with burial at TorontoUnionCemetery. www.jefosterfh.com
