Bernice Louise (Hasley) Francis, 89, of Bloomingdale, OH (Belvedere) passed away Sunday Aug. 20, 2023, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Bernice was born May 28, 1934, in Stanleyville, OH, daughter of the late Dale C. and Gladys B. (Webber) Hasley.

She was a retired teacher, having taught at Wayne Elementary School in Bloomingdale for 31 years.

Bernice was a member of the Two Ridges Presbyterian Church in Wintersville, OH, where she was an Elder. After graduating from high school, she received her bachelor and masters degree from Ohio University. Bernice was a life member of ORTA and JCRTA and had served as President of the Smithfield Sr. Citizens.

In addition to her parents, Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lewis Francis, who passed away June 29, 2020, two brothers, Gerald C. Hasley and Eber G. Hasley, and sister, Shelda B. Cameron.

Surviving is her son, Carl Lewis (Cheryl) Francis and grandson, Eric Francis of Wintersville; daughter, Darla Louise (John) Graham of New Philadelphia, OH; loving companion, Aaron Ballinger of Hedgesville, WV; sister, Clara E. (Howard) McClure of Smithfield; sister-in-law, Betty Hasley of Rayland, OH; two grandsons, Carl Leonard of Sherrodsville, OH and David (Michelle) Francis of Bloomingdale; six great-grandchildren, Cory and Nicholas Leonard, Gracie and Trevor Francis, Haley Wren and John Reynolds.

The visitation will be held Saturday Aug. 26, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield. Bernices funeral service will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Bill Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery in Harrisville, OH.
