Betty Jane Scott, 85, of Dunedin, FL, formerly of Steubenville, OH, passed away Friday May 29, 2015 at her home in Dunedin.
Betty was born May 4, 1930 in Mingo Jct., OH, daughter of the late Willard and Lillian Sara (Ruska) Wolfe.
She was retired from the Edison Local School District with 20 years of teaching, where she taught Special Education, Reading and Advanced Reading. She received her education from the College of Steubenville and her Masters Degree from the University of Dayton.
Betty was a former member of the Jefferson Co. Teachers Assoc.,Covenant Presbyterian Church, Elder/Deacon at the Pleasant Hill United Presbyterian Church, volunteer at Ohio Valley Hospital, Valley Hospice in Steubenville and Suncoast Hospice in Clearwater, FL. She was a current member of NEA, OEA, Ohio Teachers, Clearwater Community Church & St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Dunedin, FL.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Scott who passed Nov. 25, 2000 and by her sisters, Mildred Flinn and Joyce Mann.
Surviving is her son, James W. (Ronda) Scott of Groveport, OH; her daughter, Sue (Dave) Montgomery of Dunedin, FL; two grandchildren, Brandi (Tim) Daniel and Steven (Allison) Scott; four great-grandchildren, Quentin, Bailey, Ava and Austin and a loving extended family of two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Betty will be held on Thursday June 4, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home 701 Findley St. in Toronto, OH. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Colvin officiating and burial will follow in Ft. Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville, OH.
Memorial donations may be made in Bettys memory to the charity of the donors choice.
