Blanche Rozella Cassels, 77, formerly of Smithfield, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2008 in Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Blanche was born March 26, 1930 in Bellaire, OH, daughter of the late Rolland and Leona (Simmons) Stewart. She was a member of the Holly Springs United Methodist Church in Holly Springs, NC. Blanche will be most remembered for her many years as a beautician in her shop, Blanche's Beauty Shop, in Smithfield. In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her husband George Louis Cassels, Jr. who passed away in 2005. Blanche is survived by her children, Blanche 'Leona' Cochran of Portsmith, VA; Larry and his wife Marie Cassels of Michigan; Tammy and her husband Carl Perry of Columbus, OH; George L. 'Bud' III and his wife Beth Cassels of Fuquay Varina, NC; her brother Rolland Jr. and his wife Sue Stewart of WV; sister Rosalind and her husband John Maddox of Flushing, OH; sister Florence Stewart and her friend Arther Crowell of Cleveland, OH. Blanche is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Blanche will be held on Friday, January 18 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield. Funeral services for Blanche will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 19 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Smithfield with the Rev. Diane Payton presiding.
