Bryan J. Burkey, 60, of Stratton, OH, passed away Friday, September 25, 2026, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, OH.

Bryan was born December 31, 1965, in Steubenville, son of the late John Burkey and Linda (Allen) Tubbs. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Sean Burkey.

He was a proud graduate of Canton McKinley High School and has been a proud Bulldog football fan ever since.

After high school, Bryan sang lead vocals for Quick N’ Nasty, a local band that performed at area bars and clubs for years. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he could often be heard yelling at the TV in frustration during their games. Bryan was a gambling man who enjoyed playing the daily lottery and betting on sports.

Bryan leaves behind his children, son, Dustin Burkey and daughters, Melanie (John) Cross, both of Toronto, and Cierra Saum of Wintersville, OH; his fiancé, Susan Gentile of Stratton; sister, Sharon (Ron) Balvin of Canton, OH; his aunt who he considered his sister, Shelli Burton of Westerville, OH; grandchildren, Mavrick, Koletin, Ryvor, Tristyn, and Sebastian, and one on the way, and his two step-children, Amanda (Andre) Gonzalez of Houston, TX, and Nicholas Gentile of Nebraska.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, October 1 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Bryan’s funeral service will follow at 6 pm led by Rev. Kevin Rinkes and there will be a gathering after at the White Front in Toronto.
