CARL R. "Toodle " BURKHEAD 67 OF Co. Rd. 16. Rayland, Ohio died Monday May 31, 2004 in Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, W.Va. Carl was born Sept. 30, 1936 in Rayland, Ohio son of the late Harold R. and Lois Darrah Burkhead. Carl was the owner and operator of Burkhead Drilling and Excavating Co. of Rayland, Ohio since 1959. He attended the Hopewell United Methodist Church and Weems Community Chapel in Rayland. He was a member of the Classic Chevy Club and the National Ground Water Assoc. Carl served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1959 to 1965 and was Honorably discharged. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by; his wife Mary Ann Guzy Burkhead in 1996 and a Brother, Harold "Lou" Burkhead. Surviving are; a son, Shane and his wife Amy Burkhead of Rayland, two Daughters, Debbie Burkhead of Rayland; Carla and her husband Jon Marcinik of Shady Side, Md. His father-in-Law; John Guzy of Rayland. Two brothers; Rev. Merriel (Dorrine) Burkhead of Bowerston, Ohio and William (Gail ) Burkhead of Sullivan, Ohio. Three Sisters; Mrs. Charles (Vivian ) Meeker of Tallmadge, Ohio; Mrs. Jerry (Janet) Oakes of Kent, Ohio; and Mrs. John (Martha) Brown of Cambridge Springs, Pa. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday from 2 - 8 pm., with the family being present from 5 - 8 pm. at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home, Inc. 107 Hill St. Smithfield, Ohio. Additional calling hours will be on Friday morning at the Funeral Home from 9:45 am. to 10:30 am. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am. at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, on Co. Hwy. 16 in Hopewell. Rev. Robert Glasglow will officiate and burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
