Carl W. Myers, 91, of Steubenville, OH, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in the Valley Hospice Care Center North, in Steubenville, surrounded by his family.
Carl was born July 30, 1933 in Steubenville, son of the late Wilmer and Doma (Speaker) Myers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Myers (2022), his son, Jeff Myers (2023), and his son-in-law, Jack Salonica (2019).
Carl was a 1951 graduate of Steubenville High School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served his country in the Korean War. Carl returned home from the war and went to work for Ohio Bell, which later became Ameritech and ATT until his eventual retirement.
After retirement, Carl could be found in his woodshop building things for his family and his church. He also loved to travel and hit the links for a round of golf with his late wife Jane.
He was a long-time member and Elder of the First Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Steubenville. Carl was the long-time handyman at the church where he was referred to affectionately as the "The Boss".
Carl leaves behind his daughter, Becky Salonica, of Steubenville; three granddaughters, Cherie and husband Ryan Ramsey also of Steubenville, Jessica and husband Scott Nelson of Toronto, OH, and Kaitlyn and husband Blair Morris of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Isaiah, Bentley, Ethan and Lillian, and lastly but just as dear to him, his beloved dog Molly.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation for Carl on Friday, February 28 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the First Westminster Church. A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday at 11 AM at the church with additional visitation prior from 10 AM to 11 AM. Rev. Jason Elliott will officiate, and a luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Carl's arrangements are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH.
