Charles William Bill Baier, 89, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at his home.

Bill was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Weirton, WV, son of the late Charles Frederick and Elizabeth Catherine (Daugherty) Baier.

He was retired from the Weirton Steel Corp. with over 40 years of service in both the Tin Mill & CA Dept. Bill was also a Veteran of US Air Force having served his country during the Korean War.

Bill was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and the Toronto American Legion Post #86. In addition to being a loving husband and devoted father, Bill spent over 40 years coaching local basketball, baseball, and softball teams.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Rita (Wilson) Baier; brother, Francis Bucky Baier, and sisters, Eleanor Kelly, Charlotte Thompson, and Molly Thompson.

Bill leaves behind his nine children, four daughters, Jane (Nick) Kaschak, Janice (Scott) Johnson, Laurie (Michael) Iosue, Mary Beth (Shawn) Sherwood; five sons, Bill Baier, Tom Baier, John (Michelle) Baier, Steve (Nicole) Baier, and Allen Baier; grandchildren, Charley Daniels, Sarah Diamond, Theresa Kaschak, Mary Kaschak, Karly Baier, Joe Baier, Ashley Szeligo, Molly Champagne, Mikey and Lucas Iosue, Kurtis and Max Baier, Ethan and Ty Sherwood; great-grandchildren, Zach and Autumn Daniels, Ella Diamond, and Libby and Liam Szeligo.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto, OH. Military Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion at 5 pm. A private graveside service with Fr. Thomas Vennitti will be held at the Toronto Union Cemetery.
