Charles L. Burkett, 76, of Smithfield, OH, passed away at his home Thursday, July 7, 2011.Charles was born August 1, 1934 in Smithfield, OH, son of the late Edward and Frieda (Marker) Burkett. Charles was a member of the Smithfield Christian Church, he was retired from the AEP Cardinal Plant where he worked in the Maintenance Dept. He also served his country in the US Navy and was a member of the Brilliant American Legion Post #573.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Hartzell) Burkett who passed away in 1998.Charles is survived by his daughter, Sandra (John) Crawford of Irondale, OH, his son, Alan (Yvonne) Burkett of Smithfield, OH; his three grandchildren, Aerial, Ashley and Alan Burkett; his sister Lois (John) Greenwalt of NJ and his nephew Chris Bednar.Visitation for Charles will be held on Monday, July 11 from 6-8pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11am with the Rev. Wilford Simeral officiating.
