IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles J.
Erb, Sr.
November 25, 1940 – January 4, 2018
Thursday Jan. 4, 2018 our beloved Father, Charles J. Erb, Sr., 77, of Rayland, OH (Plum Run) passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Dad will be embarking on a new life of Eternal Peace.
Chuck was born on Nov. 25, 1940 in Nelsonville, OH son of the late Roy and Charlene (Skivers) Erb.
He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., where he worked as a scarfer in the 80" Hot Strip.
Chuck was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, a graduate of Smithfield High School (1958) where he played drums in the Spartan Band. After graduation he and his brother-in-law Gene went on to play their music in various local taverns.
Our dad was a genuine, kind and loving man. When you were his friend, it was for life. Our dad never knew a stranger. He had a special place in his heart for a dear friend Harold who he worked with for many years. Dad went first, so he will be there to meet you.
Chuck enjoyed going on family vacations, especially 40+ years to Ocean City, MD. He enjoyed playing Santa Claus and giving treats to the little ones. He took great pride in his yard and landscaping, spending many hours watering his flowers. He enjoyed most his family picnics out in his second home, his garage.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his only son, whom he missed very much, Charles J. Erb, Jr.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Constance 'Connie' (Meszaros) Erb, whom he married on June 13, 1959; his daughters, Tammy (Steve) Kinyo of Bradley, OH and Tonya Erb (Mark Gordon) of Plum Run; his grandsons, Anthony Kinyo of Rayland, OH and Andre Kinyo of Bradley; the loves of his life his great-granddaughters, Aubrie and Addison; 3 brothers and 1 sister; his special friend Ashley Bane, who he enjoyed having coffee with; his two cats, Tigger and Soxcie.
His family would like to thank Valley Hospice, Michelle his nurse, Tiffany his aid, Chaplin George and Maura his social worker.
Dad, we will always treasure our memories of you forever, we love you!
Chucks wishes were to be cremated and burial will be at the convenience of his family. His services are in the care of the J. E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH.
