Charles S. Chuck Rogers, 86, of Toronto, OH, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at his home.
Chuck was born April 23, 1932 in Youngstown, OH, son of the late Samuel and Evelyn (Damman) Rogers.
He was a retired Repairman with the Ohio Edison Co. Sammis Plant in Stratton, OH with 42 years of service. Chuck was a Veteran of the US Air Force having served his country in the Korean War. Chuck was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Toronto and the Toronto American Legion Post #86.
Chuck was a very avid sports fan following his favorite team, the Toronto Red Knights and the Toronto American Legion baseball team for over 40 years. He could always be found at the Knight Baseball Complex behind home plate with his wife. He also followed his grandchildrens sports team, three of whom made it to the Final Four in Ohio. Chucks other favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (Solomon) Rogers and his sister, Delia Robison.
Chuck leaves behind his wife, Caroline M. (Wasyk) Rogers whom he married Nov. 2, 1973; his two daughters, Joan (Pat) Linn of Wellington, FL and Cathy (Tom) Teater of New Philadelphia, OH; his son, Richard Rich (Valerie) Foster of Virginia Beach, VA; his eight grandchildren, Adam, Eric, Nicole Linn, Jessica, Lesley, Michael and Alyssa Teater and Danielle Foster.
Family and friends will be received Friday, Sept. 21 from 4 8 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Additional viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9 am til time of his Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 10 am at St. Francis Catholic Church. Fr Thomas Vennitti will celebrate and burial will follow in Toronto Union Cemetery.
There will be a Vigil Service at the funeral home Friday at 3:45 pm. Military Graveside Honors will be presented by the Toronto American Legion Saturday at the cemetery.
