IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlotte Mae (Butler)
Brown
September 26, 1948 – October 30, 2025
Charlotte Mae (Butler) Brown, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Valley Hospice in Steubenville, Ohio on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at the age of 77.
She was the daughter of the late Clyde R. and Callie E. (Powell) Butler and was born on September 26, 1948, in New Martinsville, WV.
After her mother's passing, Charlotte was raised at the Children's Home in New Cumberland, WV, until age 13, when she moved in with her sister Mary. She later retired from Cabela's Distribution Center.
Charlotte enjoyed many hobbies, including reading, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, watching movies, and capturing memories with her camera. Above all, she was a devoted "granny" to many—whether family by blood or by heart, Charlotte made everyone feel welcome.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her sisters, Grace Brown, Mary Mitchell, and Sarah Winland; her brother, Charles Butler, and her beloved cat, Shifty.
She is survived by her daughters, Cassandra (Val) Balvin and Lori (Rich) Glasgow; grandchildren, Erin Zimmerman, Justin (Brandy) Glasgow, Ronnie (Julie) Balvin, Amanda Price, Chelsey (Scott) Farrar, JD (Mirranda) Glasgow, and Olivia (Tyler) Kirk; great-grandchildren, Mia (Kevin), Carter, Aubree, Ada, Nahla, Rylan, Mila, My'keonna, Savannah, Preston, Winter, and Odin, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, November 3, from 2 pm to 5 pm at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, OH, where services with Kenny Kourim will follow at 5 pm. Guests are invited to wear black and gold in honor of Charlotte's favorite sports teams, her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. A meal and refreshments celebrating Charlotte's life will follow at the Smithfield Fire Department. www.jefosterfh.com
