Chester A. Higgs, 65 of Rayland, OH, passed away on Sat. Aug. 26, 2017 in the Lancia Villa Royale Nursing Home in Steubenville, OH.

Chester was born Oct. 8, 1951 in Martins Ferry, OH, son of the late Harvey and Iona (Forrester) Higgs.

He was a retired truck driver, formerly working for Fraley and Schilling Trucking in Brilliant, OH and Daves trucking in Rush Run, OH.

Chester was a member of the Plum Run Church in Christian Union.

In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Rita (Mosser) Higgs on Dec. 19, 2014 and by three brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are his two sons, Jeromy (Jennifer) Higgs and Greg (Barbara) Higgs all of Rush Run; his sister, Vickie Nay of Arizona; two brothers, Phillip Higgs of TX and Jeremiah Higgs of Rayland; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday Aug. 30, 2017 from 10 am til time of Chesters Funeral Service at 12 noon at the J. E. Foster Funeral Home 107 Hill St. in Smithfield, OH. Pastor Roger Wayne will officiate and burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, OH.
