IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christine L.
Howell
April 14, 1965 – April 30, 2025
Christine "Cris" Howell, affectionately known as Grammie, was born on April 14, 1965, to the late James (Jim) Brown and Sharon Brown. Cris was a beacon of light that shone brightly on everyone she touched. She was the embodiment of resilience, and a testament to the joy and kindness she spread effortlessly to everyone around her. Her humor and laughter were contagious, often leaving people laughing so hard they would be in tears, and lifting the spirits of everyone around. Her presence was a reminder that happiness is a choice and that life and, despite its trials, is a gift to be savored one smile at a time. On April 30, 2025, at the age of 60, Cris concluded her story, surrounded by the love and warmth of the life she so joyfully built.
Cris spent the beginning of her life in Toronto, OH, where she graduated from Toronto High School. She then moved to Hammondsville where she nurtured a family and built a career that touched many lives. She shared a 35-year relationship with her husband, Doug Howell, and together they raised a trio of kids: Amanda Agin, James "JD" Howell and Hunter Howell. Cris was the kind of mother whose love knew no bounds. She absolutely adored her daughter-in-law Kayla Howell and her future son-in-law Ethan Six and went above and beyond to care for them as much as her own children.
Her grandchildren – Jaxon Howell, Reagan Rine, Hunter Six and Christian Six – brought her a profound sense of pride and a never-ending source of delight. Their lives will forever be shaped by her loving presence. She imparted wisdom, instilled values, and above all, shared moments that each will carry like precious treasures.
Cris studied Radiology at Kent State, where she honed her skills that would benefit countless individuals. Her professional life as a CT Tech and X-ray specialist was marked by an unwavering work ethic. Her colleagues remember her as a hard worker who was not only committed to her profession but also a friend who brought laughter and light into every situation.
When she wasn't illuminating the insides of her patients, Cris's wonderful spirit shone brightest when she was spending as much time as possible with the light of her life, her grandson Jaxon. But as a person who embraced life's every moment, Cris had an array of interests that painted her world in vibrant colors. Cris was also the ultimate party planner, showcasing her artistic ability by crafting experiences that were Pinterest-worthy with her best friend and daughter Amanda. Holidays were a time when her creativity knew no bounds and she created life-long traditions that her family will always remember by preparing mouth-watering feasts, cookie making, and out-spooking the spookiest on Halloween. But Cris's wonderful spirit shone brightest when she was surrounded by her loved ones at the family camp on the river. It was a place of connection. A place where lifelong memories were made.
Cris's zest for life extended beyond her home into her love for travel. She turned every journey into an adventure, whether it was a relaxing day at the beach, exploring new horizons, or even engaging in a thrilling ghost hunt. Her wanderlust reflected her belief that life was meant to be lived fully and fearlessly.
Cris was the embodiment of selflessness, always placing the needs of others before her own. The term "loving" barely scratches the surface of describing Cris's demeanor; To know Cris was to know what it meant to be loved unconditionally. She was a soul who lived not for herself but for the joy and betterment of others. She was more than just a presence in our lives; she was an inspiration, a guiding light, and a reminder of the beauty that can be found in each moment. Her memory will be held in the hearts of those she leaves behind and her absence will be felt deeply. But her memory will be cherished as a treasure that continues to inspire acts of kindness and love.
As we reflect on the extraordinary life of Christine, let us honor her by embracing her philosophy of life: to love generously, laugh heartily, and live meaningfully. Though her physical presence is no longer among us, her spirit endures. She will be remembered for the light she brought into the world and the warmth she left in the hearts of her family, friends, and those she cared for throughout her meaningful life.
Christine, our beloved Grammie, you have taught us well, and your lessons will be our guiding light for all our days.
The family will be honoring Christine with a Celebration of Life at their family camp in Toronto. All are welcome, bring a chair, and come share stories, tears, and laughter. More details will be posted soon.
