Darla Jean
Emery
Oct 21, 1962 — Oct 11, 2026
Darla Jean Jackson Emery, 63, of Steubenville, OH, passed away peacefully October 11, 2026, in the Valley Hospice Care Center in Steubenville, surrounded by her family, after a brief but brutal battle with cancer.
She was born October 21, 1962, in East Liverpool, OH, to the late Calvin Jackson and MaryEllen Jackson Webber. Darla was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Megan Thomas, sister Sheryl Walker, sister Lisa Emery, father-in-law Edward Emery and stepfather Richard Webber.
Darla is survived by her husband, Edward (Tommy) Emery, son Christopher Thomas, daughter Rachel (Josh) Higby, grandchildren Jaiden-Devin-Miley-Andrew-Grayson-Orion-Jace, sister Marlena (Barry) Tond, seven nieces and nephews, mother-in-law Bonita Emery, and her fur babies Oreo, Jack, and Sweet Pea.
Darla attended Toronto High School. She married her soulmate Tommy in November 2000, and they spent almost 26 happy years together.
Darla had a beautiful soul, and a big heart, kind, hardworking, always putting others before herself. Material things were not important to her, the people in her life were. She always saw the best in people.
Darla was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was born to be a caregiver, working as a CNA at various places in Columbus with Alzheimer’s and Hospice patients, The Laurels in Steubenville, private caregiver, and most recently as primary caregiver to her mother.
She loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren and all her nieces and nephews unconditionally. She had a beautiful smile, a great laugh, and an ornery sense of humor. She was a cutthroat Bid 500 player with family card games. Darla loved to go to the casinos, play games on her phone, and swim in her pool. Darla’s request was to be cremated, with no services.
Arrangements for Darla are in the care of the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Toronto. Her family would like to thank Valley Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care they provided. Please consider a donation in Darla’s name to Valley Hospice. Rest in peace honey. Your fight is over now.
