Dathan Derek McHugh, 46, a lifelong resident of Smithfield, OH, passed away suddenly Dec. 13, 2022.

Dathan was born to Gerald Dale and Norma (Phillips) McHugh on Aug. 7, 1976.

He was a 1995 graduate of Buckeye Local High School and was an assistant kitchen manager at Outback in St. Clairsville, OH.

Dathan spent his free time riding his Harley with his brother and friends and attending Wheeling Nailer Hockey games.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Roberta Phillips and paternal grandparents, Donald and Marian McHugh.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, Dale and Norma McHugh of Smithfield, is his brother, Garren (Sciandra) McHugh of Smithfield, his niece, Shaylor McHugh of Wintersville, OH, his uncles, Richard Phillips of Youngstown, OH, Norman (Gretchen) Phillips of Port Washington, OH and John Phillips of Stratton, OH, his aunt and uncle, Esther and Lamont McCoy of Smithfield.

Visitation will be held Friday Dec. 16, 2022, from 10 am to 12 noon at the J.E. Foster Funeral Home in Smithfield, with his funeral service to follow at 12 noon. Pastor Phil Bliss will officiate, and final interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
