David L. Bates Sr., 57, of Toronto, Ohio passed away Friday at Trinity Medical Center West. David was born on Dec. 7, 1952 in E. Liverpool, OH, son of Clarence "Benny" Bates who survives, and the late Jane Copestick Bates.David was Vice President and Manager of Jefferson County Cable Co. in Toronto. David was also very active in the Edison Central League where he served as V.P. and was also an umpire.In addition to his mother David was preceded in death by his infant grandson Derrick Leasure Jr.Surviving are his son David L. Bates Jr., and his fiancAC. Casey Hall of Steubenville, two daughters Brandi M. Leasure and her companion Matthew Radvansky of Toronto and Megan L. Bates of Toronto. His father and step-mother Benny and Laura Mae Bates of Toronto. Four Grandchildren, Jenna and Caleb Leasure, Kalila Bates and Emma Bates. His brother Daryl (Brenda) Bates of Fla., and several half brothers and sisters. Friends and family may call on Sunday from 1-4 and 6-9 pm., at the J. E. Foster Funeral Homes, Inc., 701 Findley St. Toronto, where Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 12 noon. Visitation will take place from 10:00 am., up to the time of the Service. Pastor Tommy Mills will officiate and burial will follow in Island Creek Cemetery.
